Pemaquid Watershed Association presents “Natures Palette,” artwork by Newcastle resident Helen Warner in oil, watercolor and ink. The exhibit will be up through Feb. 2, 2018 at the PWA office-gallery, 584 Main St., Damariscotta.

Helen Warner is inspired by the beauty and color of the natural world and her work tends toward subjects in nature. The luminous transparency of watercolor and its unpredictability continue to be fascinating, however, recently working in oils and alcohol ink has added a new dimension to her work. Both her mother and grandmother were talented artists so she had lots of exposure and guidance in art as a child. After a 40 plus year nursing career, retirement offered the opportunity to focus on art.

Warner is primarily self taught but has attended many workshops and classes locally, in Florida and in the Bahamas over the past 15 years with instruction from W. Ternes, P. Weaver, R. Goschke, T. McCobb, J. Butke and D. Arter. Working as a volunteer at River Arts in Damariscotta provides xposure to many local artists and the chance to learn from their work. She has recently been selected as one of last month’s People’s Choice Winner in the Invitational Hall at River Arts, Damariscotta.

Warner’s work has been displayed at River Arts, Damariscotta, Kefauver Studio and Gallery, Damariscotta, The Harlow gallery, Hallowell, Boothbay Region Art Foundation, Maine Coast Gallery, Friendship, Chocolate Church Gallery, Bath, and Maine Art Gallery, Wiscasset. Warner’s solo shows have been at Atlantic Motor Car in Wiscasset, and Rising Tide, Damariscotta. She is a Gallery Artist for Still Point Art Gallery.
