There's a new book coming to town. And it's not just any book — it's the eighth Harry Potter book.

“Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, Parts One and Two,” is the latest in the series by J.K. Rowling, and it is due to go on sale at 12:01 a.m. on Sunday, July 31.

That day, Sherman's Books and Stationery in Boothbay Harbor will be hosting a release party for the books, which are now sitting in a pile of boxes in the store with signs reading “Strict on-sale date — Do not open until 12:01 a.m. July 31, 2016” on each box.

There will be a few activities, food and giveaways. A handmade in Maine, magic wand replica will be raffled off. A few more will be available for sale.

The book will be on sale at Sherman’s beginning at 9 a.m. on July 31, when the release party starts. It will continue until 10 p.m.

Boothbay Harbor Memorial Library's youth services librarian, Desiree Scorcia, will be the guest speaker, reading of a couple excerpts at the event. Be prepared — she'll be dressed to kill.

“Harry Potter and the Cursed Child” is a two-part stage play written by Jack Thorne, J.K. Rowling and John Tiffany.

Scorcia will also be hosting a launch party at the library on Tuesday, August 2, from 3 to 4:30 p.m. There will be snacks, Harry Potter crafts and games, including Harry Potter Trivia, and attendees are encouraged to wear Harry Potter-inspired costumes. The library will have three copies of the book ready for checkout. There will be a drawing for one copy of the book during the launch party.
