Happy and grateful Thanksgiving

Tue, 12/02/2014 - 10:00am

    Dear Editor:

I awoke to a town that was so beautiful with the coating of snow on Thanksgiving Day. I bundled up and grabbed my gear to begin shoveling in case I had to get out for one reason or another.

Little did I know that the snow was so water laden and heavy! As I was struggling to lift each and every heavy shovel full, I glanced at the Catholic church team making pass after pass with their efficient plows and thought, "In another life I would have one of those."

Those poor guys have probably been out all night long, deprived of sleep and more than ready to find their pillows!

After I had made it through half of the heavy, wet stuff at the end of the driveway, I chanced to walk down and ask if it would be possible to come up and just push the other half at the end out of the way and I would gladly pay them.

Graciously they said that when they finished the church parking lot they would gladly come up.

Not only would they not accept any money but did the whole driveway as well! I and my old back can't thank the two gentleman from Reny's enough!

I am thankful to you and your generosity and hope that your Thanksgiving holiday was made a bit sweeter by your selfless deeds! I love my community and love this town!
