Hannaford supports March of Dimes

On Saturday, April 25 during the Fishermen's Festival, employees at Hannaford could be found outside raising money for the March of Dimes.

According to Evelyn Andrews, Hannaford associate relations manager, each Hannaford store raises money for charities during the year.

“(Associate) David (Steinmetz) has a connection with the Boothbay Fire Department, who were kind enough to donate their dunk tank for the event,” Andrews said.

Beth Hardwick, along with her daughter-in-law Echo Hardwick and her two young sons Wyatt and Aubrey, were outside grilling and selling hot dogs and hamburgers donated by Hannaford, and two brave associates, Steinmetz and Chris Morton, were taking turns in the dunk tank getting soaked for the low price of $1.

Mara Gentry, who came second place in the crate race by running 332 crates, was using some of her winnings to ensure they got dunked very frequently (and those that missed would give her a nod, and she'd push the lever so they'd fall in anyways).

Produce Manager Chuck Cunningham came out to grab a couple of burgers, dunk Steinmetz, and also donated money so all his crew could have lunch for free. The associates in the deli came out and paid extra money so they could dunk their coworker Jake Swartz, who was working the grill.

“It wouldn’t have been possible without our associates or the generosity of the Boothbay Fire Department,” Andrews said.

All money raised and donated went to the March of Dimes.
