Dear Editor:

Once again we were treated to a debate on crucial issues for our town, state and nation by master teacher, Mark Gorey, and the junior class at Boothbay Region High School.

Community members gave their time and expertise as speakers and research assistants to the students as they delved into the topics.

The professional presentation, moderated by Smith Climo, showed us all how civil discourse can be held on substantive matters where citizens disagree. After the candidate debate held at the Opera House a few weeks ago, so well moderated by Peggy Pinkham, it was wonderful to see students mirror the same level of discussion.

Congratulations to all educators and community members who help our children grow into thoughtful adults.
