Great Fourth of July celebration

Tue, 07/12/2016 - 11:45am

    Dear Editor:

It was a beautiful “blue sky day” for our 30th annual Fourth of July celebration on the Boothbay Town Common!

The Boothbay Region Community Band performed their wonderful music, followed by Arthur Webster, our loyal musician all these years. Luck was with us to also have well-known local musician Gabe Tonon, Rich Limouge of Jefferson, and Kathie Nordone. Great music!

Many thanks to the workers and servers at the chicken barbecue: John Leonard of Boothbay “at the helm”, Camden, Simon and Ella Spear, Pamela Pasch, Andrew Twaddle, York Fischer and others. York also delivers the ice year after year, which is donated by Mill Cove Lobster Inc. Thanks to Kay Evans for manning the ticket booth.

Our thanks to the “hot dog king” John Bertelot, assisted by Tony Goode and loyal helper, Estelle Appel.

Jane Homer and helpers, in charge of cutting and serving the pies and desserts, did a terrific job. Many, many thanks to all who donated the beautiful array of desserts, including the whoopie pies!

Desiree Scorcia, in charge of the children’s games, did a super job, for which we are truly grateful.

We appreciate the support of the Boothbay Fire Department, who had a nice fundraising booth, including the dunk tank, which is always a hit.

Thanks to Vickie Huskins and the vendors, for a great arts & crafts show.

Sincere gratitude to the town of Boothbay, Boothbay Harbor Hannaford, Yellowfront Grocery, Pepsi Bottling Co, Wayne Closson, Pete Leighton, Giles Rubbish, the Boothbay Register, and the Lincoln County Sheriff's Office, for their donations of goods and services.

Last but not least by any means, a huge thank you to our loyal BCA members and supporters who helped to make this event a success. Thanks to all who came to enjoy the 30th celebration of the 4th of July on the Boothbay Town Common.
