Graduation events to come

Another year gone and another graduation comes to Boothbay Region High School. Fifty-five seniors will be donning caps and gowns and marching for their diplomas. Wednesday, May 30 marked the last day for seniors which also means the soon-to-be graduates begin practicing the grand event of their sending off.

The Baccalaureate program, the next big event for grads. their families and the public, is at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 3 at the Congregational Church of Boothbay Harbor. At 6 p.m. Sunday, seniors, their parents and alumni with tickets will assemble at Boothbay Region Elementary School for the annual Alumni Dinner, with guest speaker Lisa Arsenault.

On Tuesday, June 5, is the Masonic Cookout, a casual cookout for the seniors at the Masonic Hall in East Boothbay. And on Wednesday, June 6, a balloon-blowing event will be held after the Grand March practice finishes at 9:30 a.m. Volunteers are welcome!

Teachers’ Awards will be held at 12:30 p.m. Thursday, June 7 at the high school. At 7 p.m., seniors will receive awards and scholarships and other students will receive honors and book awards.

Friday, June 8 is the day all grads and their families have been waiting for, graduation. The day will start at 8 a.m. with Class Day, when seniors will poke fun at one another and reminisce over the past four years spent at BRHS. The graduation ceremony begins at 2 p.m. Doors open at 1 p.m.

After graduation is the Alumni Ball at 8 p.m. Admission is $5 per person and doors open at 7 p.m. It is a tuxedo and white dress event. Lastly, at 10 p.m., is the Project Graduation trip.
