Governor’s plans?

Tue, 03/21/2017 - 7:30am

    Dear Editor:

The malodorous air announcing the presence of accidental governor, Paul LePage, as he enters a room may be connected to Tea Party spawn, or more precisely, to his inability to cast off his aura of a pettifogged, two-bit politician swimming up from a small-town mayoralty.

We sense our governor went to Washington looking for a challenge well above his present status. A Cabinet post? Or, if they're all taken, a deputy post with a promise of early promotion. An ambassadorial slot. Canada?

Then again, even though he took a no-risk, long-shot gamble and boarded the Trump train before it left the station his with endorsement of the now-president, his poll standings among Maine voters may be as low as those plaguing Mr, Trump himself.

As political capital goes, this might not qualify Mr, LePage for a job in the White House mail room.

Does his return to us mean our governor stays? We get to shop with him in the local market? Welcome home, sir.

    Paul E. McArdle
