Governor is out of control

Wed, 10/19/2016 - 9:30am

Dear Editor:

For our governor to accuse President Obama of abusing his power of unilateral authority to get things done, and comparing it to a dictatorship, is either the height of hypocrisy or ignorance, considering that this more accurately describes LePage himself. Actually, Obama has resorted to the use of this power fewer times than either Bush or Clinton before him.

LePage has set an all-time record for the number of times that he has vetoed bills that had bipartisan support but didn’t give him what he wanted. He has also refused to release voter approved bond funds on at least three occasions that I can recall, again in power plays to get what he wanted. He has used vulgar, obscene words to denigrate people critical of him and calls the print journalists in Maine a “bunch of idiots.” He now says that proponents of raising the minimum wage should be put in jail for “attempted murder.”

Does this all sound like someone who is working with our legislators and the people of Maine for the betterment of Maine, or perhaps one who is close to being out of control and on a self serving power trip?
