Good support for fundraiser

    Dear Editor:

On behalf of the Boothbay Region YMCA we would like to extend our appreciation for the support of the Rocky Coast Road Race. The 5K run/walk and 10K run took place on Saturday, July 2 and exceeded all expectations; 194 walkers and runners took part in the event. To date, the event has raised over $4,000 for LiveStrong at the YMCA, a program for cancer survivors in our community.

We would like to extend our thanks to all those who made this event possible. To our dozens of volunteers, thank you! You handled the volume of walkers and runners with easy and grace. You cheered and made sure everyone made it through the course safely. You make this event possible.

To our event sponsors, J. Edward Knight, Dead River Company, and First National Bank, thank you for your dedication to our community. We are thankful that you were able to support LiveStrong at the Y.

Thank you to the Boothbay Harbor Police Department for its support of this event. The BHPD supported our volunteers at busy intersections and made sure the event course was safe. BHPD took an “all hands on deck” approach and many of those officers out on the course had worked the night prior to the event.

Thank you to the Boothbay Region Ambulance Service for providing support in the case of a medical emergency. The staff at the Ambulance Service put our mind at ease with so many participants.

To the community, the local businesses, and to the visitors who supported this event by cheering on participants, thank you! We are blessed to be a part of a community that supports healthy lifestyles.

Thank you to the Windjammer Days team. We are so proud to be a part of this wonderful festival.

To our walkers and runners of all abilities, thank you for being a part of the Rocky Coast Road Race. We hope you will join us next year. Consider joining the Boothbay Trifecta and sign up for the Lobster Roll 5K on July 30 and the Harbor Fest 5K and Half Marathon on September 4.
