Congratulations to our local fall sports teams and athletes. For our relatively small student populations, Boothbay Region High School and Wiscasset Middle High School continue to perform well on the team and individual levels.

I would like to make special mention of one student-athlete, Sydney Meader, senior field hockey player for BRHS. Her dedication to the sport over many years has led to her being one of only two field hockey players in the state to be nominated for the title of Miss Maine Field Hockey 2017. Haley Lowell of Messalonskee High School is the other finalist. The crowning will take place in December. Congratulations Sydney and whether or not you win the title, you will always be remembered as BRHS’s most outstanding field hockey player.

Good luck to the BRHS football team on Friday night. The Seahawks are playing for the first-ever Class E title and a chance to remain undefeated on the season. Let’s hope the community comes out and supports you during the game.
