A beautiful outdoor space in Wiscasset Village becomes a new venue for three-dimensional art starting with the Wiscasset Art Walk (WAW) on Thursday, Aug. 31 from  5-8 p.m.

Thanks to the community spirit of Kasey and Jay McNamara, owners of In the Clover, the stone and brick courtyard behind their store at 85A Main Street will now be an exhibit space for sculpture, demonstrations and music. The inaugural exhibit is” Garden Art in the Courtyard” featuring specialty pieces to enhance the garden experience.

Wiscasset sculptor Bryan Buck, who works in iron, will install “Dancing Girl” in the courtyard.  Although Buck’s work is mostly site-specific and commissioned by clients, he’s pleased to take part in the Wiscasset Art Walk and have the opportunity to display one of his large sculptures to the general public.

Also on display will be one-of-a-kind works for the garden by ceramic artist John Fazzino.  Fazzino uses a high fire stoneware body with a variety of hand-building techniques – coiling, slab, press mold, pinching, carving, and scraping – to achieve tactile and sensual effects.  The artist, based in Providence, Rhode Island, is noteworthy for his experimental approach to creating his garden pieces; no two are ever alike.  In Wiscasset, Fazzino is represented by Carriage House Gardens at 62 Pleasant Street.

For Karen Okie, owner of Sheepscot River Pottery in Edgecomb, this will be her first opportunity to take part in the Wiscasset Art Walk.  As a close neighbor to Wiscasset Village, she’s been following WAW news and now, with this new outdoor space, she’s able to showcase larger pieces from her collection, intended for outdoor use.

Together, this group of exhibitors will offer Wiscasset Art Walk visitors an eclectic, colorful, and inspiring assortment of fanciful pieces for any beloved home garden!

Wiscasset Art Walk participant sites are marked with colorful streamers and touring maps are available throughout the Village.
