Letter to the Editor

Fund support appreciated

Dear Editor:

On behalf of the Boothbay Harbor Memorial Library, we would like to warmly thank all those who have donated to the 2014-15 Library Annual Fund Appeal. The response to the appeal has been very generous so far, yet additional support is still needed to help the library meet its goal of raising $75,000. Any amount raised above and beyond that goal will go towards the Endowment Fund, which improves the library's financial health and stability. Please be on the lookout for the library's spring newsletter, which will be mailed out this week. If you have the means and have not already done so, please consider making a donation, so that even more people can reap even more benefits from the library. Usage of the library has increased dramatically as a result of the recent renovations. From June to December 2014, the library had 13,679 visitors, an increase of 73 percent over the same period in 2013.

The library is not only a wonderful source of free reading materials, but it offers so much more. In just the past couple of months, our family has not only borrowed countless number of books, but we have enjoyed attending two Literary Luncheons, making Lei necklaces and attending the Hawaiian themed Father-Daughter Dance, and our son has been a regular participant in the new chess club. We have also experienced the excitement of seeing Jupiter and its moons, and our own moon, in great detail, courtesy of the library's new telescope, which is available to check-out just like a book. New programs are being implemented all the time, such as the recently added children's story hour on Saturday mornings with Becky Alley, and a Lego Club.

For more information on the many services and programs offered by the library, please visit bbhlibrary@bmpl.lib.me.us, or call 207-633-3112. Donations mailed to the Boothbay Harbor Memorial Library at 4 Oak Street, Boothbay Harbor, ME 04538 are always gratefully accepted. Thank you so much.
