French film company seeks Boothbay residents for character roles

Filming Sept. 26-30
Wed, 08/24/2016 - 2:00pm

The project is a sort of remake of cult scenes from the TV show “Murder She Wrote.” The director, Christophe Herreros, is a French artist who has already directed many films. The film will be shot in Boothbay Harbor, Sept. 26-30. Boothbay Harbor was chosen because of its resemblance to Jessica Fletcher's Cabot Cove. It will be shown in contemporary art spaces in 2017.

Director Herreros has great experience in this type of project. Usually he works with non professional actors at real locations, rather than sets on a sound stage, from which he manages to create a powerful fictional environment. To understand his practice, see his previous art works at: https://vimeo.com/user5215973.

Herreros is looking for volunteers to play in the film (who could also be professional actors). He is also interested in people willing to play themselves in the film, such as a real police officer portraying a fictional one in Cabot Cove, a librarian, a waitress, teacher, reporter. First and secondary roles are available as well as supporting, cameo and background characters for different scenes - so don’t hesitate to contact us.

Herreros loves films from the '90s and gets his inspiration from TV shows as much as from Renaissance painters. For this project, Herreros will direct several short plots directly inspired by the series. This project is financially supported by the French National Center of Arts.

We also wish the project to be a collaboration between the shooting crew, the town and it's residents. We have already been in countact with Rev. Sarah Foulger, Susan Domeyer and Police Chief Robert Hasch who were all very enthusiastic about the film!
