Forever tied to the region and Linekin Bay

Dear Editor:

For 106 years, the Branch family has provided Maine hospitality, first to relatives and friends, then, between the World Wars, to girls as Linekin Bay Camp, and, since 1946, to folks from away as Linekin Bay Resort. It has been a work of joy and great personal reward for four generations. Now, however, there is a pressing need for significant investment in the property.

As a result, we have sought out buyers with an interest in continuing our family's legacy of providing an all-inclusive vacation with a focus on sailing and other waterfront activities. We believe we have found a remarkable pair of individuals willing and able to undertake this challenge. Scott Larson, owner of the revitalized Newagen Seaside Inn, and Stephen Malcom, owner of The Knickerbocker Group, the premier design and build firm in Midcoast Maine, have stepped forward to take Linekin to the next phase in its long existence as a unique retreat in an astounding natural setting.

In recent years, Linekin Bay Resort has added the service of destination weddings in the shoulder seasons and meal and drink service to the community at our Deck Bar. Nevertheless, the main focus of our resort has been the enthusiastic guests and dedicated employees of the all-inclusive Resort, many of whom remember our parents, Bob and Ida, and even some girls campers who recall our grandparents Grove and Elizabeth. However, we could not have continued to operate through many challenges without the support of local merchants, contractors, businesses, neighbors, and town employees and officials. Together with our spouses, Paula Carreiro and Doug Mackay, and our children, Mason, Sarah and Ross Branch and Alex and Zoe Mackay, we want to thank the Boothbay Harbor regional community for all your help, advice and friendships.

We will continue to be present in Boothbay Harbor and will provide the new owners with any assistance they may desire. Our family will be forever tied to the region and to Linekin Bay.

We sincerely thank you for over a hundred years of support.

Peter Branch and Kristina Branch
