The plan to steep the Twin Villages in patriotism reached a major milestone Wednesday, April 16.
The American Legion’s Richard McFarland was on hand to present the Damariscotta Board of Selectmen with a check for $1,000 to offset the cost of insurance to hang 60 American flags in town during the summer.
The total cost of the flags was $2,800, and the flags were donated to the cause. One hangup preventing the flags flying was the cost of insurance, which the American Legion was able to cover.
