Members of the Boothbay Region Fish & Game Association voted at their monthly meeting on Oct. 15 to purchase and donate 30 Hannaford Food Boxes to the Good Shepherd Food Bank at the Congregational Church at 1 Townsend Ave.

On Oct. 17, club member and Hannaford employee David Steinmetz and BRFGA past president Lou Scala, both of East Boothbay, loaded Scala's truck with the boxes, which were delivered to the Food Bank.

"This is the fifth or sixth year in a row that the club has voted to purchase food boxes," said Scala. "We don't have a lot of money in our treasury, but we feel it's important to participate in a program that will help those in our community who need a little assistance, especially this time of year."

Steinmetz pointed out that individual club members, and anyone else, can purchase one or more boxes and take them over to the Food Bank.

"Every box will go to those in need," he said.

Each box contains a variety of non-perishable food items, and costs $10. They are available now at Hannaford.
