Fire destroys Boothbay Harbor house

Fire marshal’s office investigating fire at unoccupied house on Middle Road

    Update: A State Fire Marshal investigator was still at the scene Tuesday afternoon of the early morning fire which destroyed an unoccupied house on 69 Middle Road, Boothbay Harbor.

    The call to Lincoln County Communications about the fire was made by a neighbor from across the street at around 4 a.m. Tuesday.

    Boothbay Harbor, Boothbay and Southport fire departments responded to the fire, which was fully engaged when the firefighters arrived, and Edgecomb Fire Department was called to cover the Boothbay station. The Boothbay Region Ambulance Service and the Boothbay Harbor Police Department also responded to the fire.

    Boothbay Harbor Fire Chief Nick Upham said about 25 firefighters turned out and the fire was contained in about 20 minutes. He said the scene was cleared at around 10 a.m.

    No one was hurt fighting the fire and no one was living in the residence, said Upham.
