Fall planting turns into gold in BRHS garden

Last fall, members of the Boothbay Region High School Interact Club worked with members of the Boothbay Harbor Rotary Club and the Boothbay Region Garden Club to plant a number of tulip bulbs throughout the BRHS Memory Garden, located at the front of the high school. This spring, their efforts have paid off in gold. Clusters of brilliant yellow tulips waved in the warm breeze on Thursday, May 18.

It was a community effort. The bulbs were planted last fall when the Interact Club, the high school version of the Rotary Club, asked the Rotary and Garden clubs for assistance. Members from each club showed up on a chilly autumn day with rakes and tools, soil, and experience with gardening and planting tulips.

The sunny yellow tulips, along with several other plants in the process of growing and blossoming, will catch the eye and lift the spirits for many springs to come.
