Environmental education fundraiser, poster contest gallery March 6

Sun, 02/25/2018 - 7:45am

Knox-Lincoln Soil & Water Conservation District (KLSWCD) will hold an environmental education fundraiser at Flatbread Company, 100 Commercial Street (Route 1) in Rockport Tuesday, March 6 from 5 to 9 p.m. Flatbread Company will donate a portion of all pizza sales from the evening in support of the conservation district’s K-12 education programs, which are offered free to all Knox and Lincoln county students throughout the year. These programs include the Conservation Education Fair at Union Fairgrounds in September for middle and elementary students, the national conservation poster contest for grades K-6, Read Me Agriculture for grades K-4 and the Maine Envirothon competition for grades 9-12.

All who attend will have the chance to view the winning entries from this year’s conservation poster contest, “Watersheds: Our Water, Our Home.” KLSWCD program manager Rebecca Jacobs presented learning sessions about local watersheds to 510 students in 31 Knox and Lincoln K-6 classrooms and received 301 poster contest submissions. In addition to great food and art, there will be a fabulous assortment of raffle prizes and, upstairs in the loft, games and activities for the younger set. Save the date and join us to support environmental education in Knox and Lincoln counties.
