Elizabeth Katherine (Brown) Kelly, 50, of Oakland Park (Fort Lauderdale), Florida, died Oct. 21, 2016.

Liz was born in Boothbay Harbor, Maine where she grew up with a love of music and animals. She spent many fun years entertaining with her cousins at the North Star Motel & Coffee Shop, a family tradition. Liz was also one of the very first to win the title of “Miss Shrimp Princess,” a talent contest for young ladies held during Fishermen’s Festival. Liz loved to sing and dance, and would often accompany her mother, Kay to her jobs playing the piano at some of the local hotels and restaurants.

After graduating from Boothbay Region High School in 1984, she moved to Florida where she met and married her husband, Daniel Kelly, in 1992. They had two children, DJ and Megan, whom she was extremely proud of. She worked in various restaurants over the years before settling in at the office of Dr. Leonard Erdman, where she worked for several years and crossed paths with many people. Liz loved her job and established many long term friendships there.

In recent years she spent time volunteering at Holy Cross Hospital. Liz had a big heart and was a friend to all. She loved animals, in particular the many family dogs over the years.

Liz was pre-deceased by her father, David W. Brown, in 2006.

She is survived by her husband of 24 years, Daniel E. Kelly; son, Daniel J. Kelly; daughter, Megan E. Kelly; mother, Katherine A. (McPhee) Brown; sister, Bonnie S. and her husband Mark A. Stover; special cousins, Laurie Spofford Simmons, Sally Spofford Carroll and Richard Spofford; special friend, Stephanie Hawke; plus many other friends and extended family.

A visitation is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 29 from 9:30 a.m. until service time at 11 a.m. at the Kalis-McIntee Funeral Center in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

A Celebration of Life will be held in Boothbay Harbor on Sunday, Nov. 13 at the Tugboat Inn Lounge, time to be announced.
