Early December computer courses at Adult Ed

During the first two weeks at Boothbay Region Adult Ed take a computer course to learn to keep your computer safe and secure, become more proficient using Microsoft Office with tips and shortcuts, work with your photos using Mac’s iPhoto, and learn about using Google Drive.

In Safe, Secure Computer, a two evening course, on Dec. 1 and 3 you'll learn do it yourself troubleshooting techniques to fix common Windows 7 and 8 issues to keep your computer running smoothly. Get information on detecting viruses and spyware and how to remove them as well as software updates and firewalls. The time is 6 to 8 p.m. and the cost is $28.

Unleash the power of Mac iPhoto to import, organize, manipulate and save your digital photos in this beginner level class. Learn to work with albums, slideshows, and advanced editing. Get tips and answers to your questions. Please bring a Mac laptop if you have one and thumb drive for saving your photos or use one of our Macs (bring your photos on a thumb drive). This three session class meets on Dec. 2, 4, and 9 from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Boothbay Region Elementary School computer lab. The fee is $30.

Microsoft Office Shortcuts, Tips and Tricks is a great one evening class that is packed with useful tips and shortcuts to improve your efficiency working with Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Learn about cut and paste, right click and other time saving shortcuts. Prerequisite: MS Office applications experience. The class is on Monday, Dec. 8 from 6 to 8 p.m. and the fee is $14.

Learn how to use Google Drive (formerly Google Docs) on Dec. 9 and 11 to create documents, spreadsheets, forms and presentations. Google Drive is an Internet-based collection of programs, and the ease of sharing and collaborating with others is one of its most powerful features. You can do it all with Google Drive! If you don't have a Google account please sign up before the first class. The time is 6 to 8 p.m. and the fee is $28.
