Gathering at Dana and Jane Mulholland’s home

The weather co-operated so that Solon Road was thawed and ice free, making for easy access to the top of the hill where there was plenty of parking for the DEYC guests. Festivities began at 5 p.m. with sufficient sunshine still available to exhibit the wonderful view out to Sequin Island.

By 5:30, nearly 50 DEYC members had arrived with a plentiful selection of appetizers, desserts and beverages. Once everyone had a chance to pour a refresher and sample the delicious food offerings, host Dana Mulholland thanked everyone for coming and asked for a moment to consider the recent passing of some beloved members. He then offered the opportunity for anyone to briefly address the group with pertinent announcements.

First to speak was Pete Yesmentes who informed the group that the “Day-Tripper Events” were nearly complete. He asked for further suggestions and several people provided desired destinations. The final list will be published in the 2018 DEYC Roster.

John Ryan introduced new applicants Brad and Elizabeth Hastings, offering thorough background information. The new applicants were enthusiastically welcomed to the group. Jack Brennan gave a brief report on the status of the ongoing audit and the stable financial state of affairs.

Jane Mulholland reminded us once again of the Annual Rendezvous March 6-8 in Florida and the Sugarloaf Weekend March 9-10 hosted by Jeff and Celeste Brown and Tom and Laura Blake along with Linda Davis and Richard DeVries. She addressed several upcoming deadlines and asked everyone to please update their profiles so the 2018 DEYC roster would contain current information.

The gathering soon returned to a celebratory atmosphere which lasted for another two hours.

Until the next off-season gathering in Maine on March 24 at the home of Paul and Louise Cowan, calm seas and clear skies to all.
