October 17 was our first gathering at the home of F/C Steve & Debbie Arkley, on Mudflat Alley in Boothbay. About 50 members attended and enjoyed the appetizers and sweets that we always look forward to. On that chilly evening most gathered in the main house, but several people ventured out on the screened porch for a view of Back River, and a few huddled around the fire pit to enjoy the evening sky and keep warm. The F/C had printouts of the summer 2016 cruise available and Commodore George Hamilton closed the event with a few words and several announcements.

This month the members gathered at the home of V/C Tim & Pam Parker on Nov. 14 in Woolwich. We were all greeted by daughter Tally at the door to this beautiful home. Some 40 plus members enjoyed the warmth of the fireplace and the chance to step back in time when a fireplace adorned every room. Lots of great food was provided by the members new and old. Its always a delight to meet the new members on this level of a small gathering. Many of the members there will be heading south soon not to be seen again till spring. We wish them all a great winter, and for the hearty souls staying we hope to see you at the Christmas party on December 12at Water’s Edge.

The snowbirds had their first winter gathering at the home of Francis & Pat Bisson in Venice on Nov.11. This event was also a celebration of the 60th wedding anniversaries of the Bissons and the Geoffrions. Champagne and Cake, along with joke gifts celebrated the happy occasion. Some 40 plus members were in attendance along with family members, the newest great-grandson of the Bissons made a special appearance. This was an enjoyable kickoff to the snowbirds winter gatherings.
