Don't like the proposed building design

    Dear Editor:

I am in total agreement with Margaret Perritt of the Planning Board — the proposed design for the bowling alley project as pictured on page 1 of your February 16 issue could be the worst-looking building I've ever seen. It bears no resemblance to the surrounding buildings and looks like it belongs in a gentrified downtown area of a big city. The day that Boothbay Harbor becomes a big city will be a sad one, indeed.

Knickerbocker Group has done some beautiful things that actually "go with" surrounding architecture, and I sincerely hope that they come up with a better design for the By-Way. We come to Boothbay Harbor because of the way it is. My family has been coming to Squirrel Island since 1895 so I've certainly seen and can accept a lot of change, but not all change is good.
