Don’t need a Common ice rink

Tue, 10/24/2017 - 10:00am

    Dear Editor:

Enough already! The Boothbay Civic Association has opened the skating rink for years for the residents of this area. The location by the Boothbay Fire Department may not be the most visible, but it is the best! Volunteers have collected the funds necessary with the help of the BCA. The skating rink does not need to be put on the Boothbay Common for the benefit of the Festival of Lights. The festival is a short-term operation in relation to the long-term winters we have here.

Mr. Coulombe’s projects have abused the Commons. His placement of the restrooms and parking lot next to a private residence is wrong. The plans showed those facilities to be located near the former Center Cafe where there was plumbing.

Many of us are not pleased with what is happening to the Boothbay peninsula.
