Domestic violence suspected in Southport shooting

    Lincoln County sheriff’s deputies arrested Allan F. Wigglesworth, 34, of Thomaston, following a shooting reported on Church Street in Southport at 10:48 p.m. on June 21. Wigglesworth was charged with Elevated Aggravated Assault, a Class A felony; Aggravated Assault, a Class B felony; and Aggravated Criminal Trespass, a Class C felony. 

    Wigglesworth and two adult victims were in the home at the time of the incident. Deputies recovered a .22 caliber rifle at the scene. One victim, a 24-year-0ld woman, was transported by Boothbay Region Ambulance with a gunshot wound to her right arm. She was transferred to LifeFlight and flown to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston, where she was treated for a non-life-threatening injury. The other victim, a 38-year-old man, sustained injuries during a physical altercation. He was transported to Lincoln Health Miles Campus in Damariscotta, where he was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

    Wigglesworth and the victims knew each other, and initial indications point to domestic violence. Investigators believe this was an isolated incident.

    The investigation is ongoing.
