Dolphins compete at state YMCA meets

Nineteen Boothbay Region YMCA swimmers competed in the boys and girls state YMCA swim meets at the University of Maine the first weekend in March, according to volunteer Y coach Heather Hills.

The swimmers dropped a total of 105.14 seconds from their best times and five of the swimmers finished among the top 12 in their various competitions.

The five Dolphin swimmers who dropped times were:

Alex Hughes, age 8, 40.92 seconds

Keegan Murray, age 10, 10 seconds

Hannah Hills, age 9, 9.38 seconds

Chris Hamblett, age 13, 7.81 seconds

Ella Watts, age 8, 6.34 seconds

The top Dolphin finishers were:

Rowan Kristan, age 14: 5th place in the 100 backstroke; 8th place in the 100 freestyle; and 12th place in the 50 freestyle

Graham Harris age 14: 6th place in the 200 freestyle; and 7th place in the 50 and 100 freestyle

Chris Hamblett, age 13: 8th place in the 100 backstroke

Ella Watts, age 8: 9th place in the 25 butterfly; 10th place in the 50 freestyle; and 12th place in the 25 freestyle

Tatum Barker, age 8: 11th place in the 25 backstroke

Evy Case, age 17: 12th place in the 200 individual medley

During the weekend of March 17-19, Graham Harris and Rowan Kristan competed in the New England YMCA swimming competition.
