DMR sustains minor smoke damage from fire

Three local departments extinguish small blaze

A small fire started in the Department of Marine Resources building Tuesday night, Dec. 12 causing minimal smoke damage, according to Boothbay Harbor Fire Chief Nick Upham. The fire was reported at 11:58 p.m. Three local fire departments responded to the blaze. The fire started in a junction box and extended onto the walls.

“The sprinkler system put most of it out and firefighters from Boothbay Harbor, Boothbay and Southport had it under control in about 30 minutes,” said Upham.
