A day of teaching and learning in Lincoln County

Thu, 10/02/2014 - 8:30am

Lincoln County Community Resource Coalition is sponsoring a Community Resource Expo on Friday, Oct. 17 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Newcastle. The Expo will allow resource providers, churches, town officials, and the public to learn about the wide variety of services offered in the county, and discuss social and economic issues that these agencies deal with. The two-part event runs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

In these times of reduced funding, it is critical that organizations and communities work together. The morning format features round table discussions on food insecurity, housing, transportation, substance abuse and elder issues. If you work or volunteer on these issues, come and share your experiences, hear what others are doing, and find new solutions to these challenges.

The lunchtime guest speaker is Garrett Martin, executive director of the Maine Center for Economic Policy and a Newcastle resident. The cost for the morning and lunch is $15 per person and includes a light breakfast and full lunch.

The afternoon session, with exhibits and display tables, is open to the public free of charge. Everyone is welcome to come and meet many local, regional and state organizations that provide valuable social services in the county.

To register for the morning and lunch and arrange for a display table, please email pauline@tedfordhousing.org. St. Patrick’s Church is located at 380 Academy Hill Road in Newcastle.
