Daniel P. Dalton, 55, of Brunswick, formerly of Wiscasset, died Dec. 27, 2015 at his residence.

He was born in Damariscotta on May 13, 1960, a son of Stanley P. and Delia Hathorne Dalton. He graduated from Wiscasset High School in 1978.

Dan always intended to be a good father, brother, husband and son. Although he was burdened with acute illnesses, physical and mental, he was not stopped from touching lives. He once gave a man without a home a place to stay – knowing he would never be paid back in return, he took in a damaged and mistreated cat – Sammy – and gave him a place of refuge with lots of love and care. Every year, on her birthday or Mother's Day, Dan's mother, Delia – who was by his side from day one – could look forward to lobsters. When others were struggling, he afforded them whatever he was able to give.

Dan was excited as any other father when his son, Cody, came into the world. When Cody woke in the night crying and screaming, there were times that Dan would use his storytelling abilities – using only pictures from around the house and his own imagination – to calm him down. Although Dan was slow to wake in the mornings, he never turned Cody away when he crawled up into his lap awaiting a “Big Hand” story – an invention Dan had created in desperate attempts to get Cody to go to daycare. He was there to see Cody graduate from high school, and, for all 21 years he got to see his son grow, there was not one day that passed where he did not brag with pride.

He was predeceased by his father, Stanley on January 29, 1993.

He is survived by his son, Cody Dalton and Cody’s mother, Ellen, both of Topsham; his mother Delia of Edgecomb; two brothers, Stanley and his wife Pamela of Wiscasset and Dale and his wife Kathy of Westport; four sisters, Ellen Paoletti and her husband Tom of Lee, Maureen Cressey and her husband Bill of West Bath, Melinda Reed and her husband Kevin and Jennifer Long and her husband Scott, all of Wiscasset; aunts, Freda Jones of Dresden, Joan Legg and her husband Norman and Martha Dalton, all of Wiscasset, and Ellen Dalton of Portland. Danny is also survived by many nieces and nephews as well as great nieces and great nephews.

At Danny’s request there will be no service. Memorial contributions can be made to Lincoln County Animal Shelter, P.O. Box 7, Edgecomb, Maine 04556.

Arrangements are by Daigle Funeral Home, 819 High Street, Bath. Condolences may be made online at www.Daiglefuneralhome.com.
