CTL students participate in Maine’s Student Mock Election

Over the past two weeks, students at the Center for Teaching and Learning have enjoyed hearing from some special visitors at Morning Meeting.

Maine Senate candidates Chris Johnson and Les Fossel — both running to represent District 13 — appeared on separate days to speak to the student body and answer questions posed by the seventh and eighth graders about their positions.

Both men shared their policy ideas for job creation, K-12 education, equal pay for men and women, alternative energy, and preserving marine resources, to name a few.

The entire school subsequently took part in the election process by voting in the statewide Student Mock Election sponsored by the Secretary of State’s office.

CTL invites parents to attend one of its morning meetings; call Scott MacDonald, Head of School, at 207-882-9706 to schedule a visit.
