Coastal Maine’s top seafood chefs will battle it out for the title of Best Crab Cake at a new event that will benefit the Windjammer Days Foundation.

The first-ever Windjammer Days Crab Cake Cook-Off will take place on Thursday, June 28 at the Boothbay Harbor Oceanside Golf Resort, 35 Atlantic Avenue, beginning at 1 p.m. A panel of judges will select a winner based on presentation/plating, taste and creativity. A People’s Choice Award will also be presented.

Chefs scheduled to compete are: Kelly Patrick Farrin of the Carriage House Restaurant, Dick Reid of The Thistle Inn, Jason Rodriguez of Oliver’s and Ralph Smith of Mine Oyster.

Pliny Reynolds, owner of Terlingua in Portland, Pamela Laskey, founder of Maine Foodie Tours, and Patricia Inness Royall, executive director of the Boothbay Harbor Region Chamber of Commerce will serve as judges of the event.

Tickets to the event are available on a first-come, first-served basis in exchange for a donation to the Friends of Windjammer Days, a 501(c)(3), all-volunteer nonprofit organization that plans and organizes the beloved annual maritime festival. The first 35 donors who reserve tickets for the Crab Cake Cook-Off will get VIP seating on the beautiful oceanfront deck at Coastal Prime, the Resort’s restaurant, and will be able to participate in tasting and voting.
