From the editor

This corner of my world

I gauge the length of this column each week, pretty much, by the space left to me after all the letters to the editor have been placed on the page. This week, as you can see, there are a lot of letters and my space is small.

If I had more time each week to pen an opinion piece or pertinent story about life in the Boothbay region, I would demand more space. However, most weeks are busy and by the time Wednesday morning rolls around, I haven't even thought about what to write about.

I had thought about writing this week about friendships and what they mean, but I didn't get to it. Plus, I want to say more than what I can fit in this space.

I do want to say that it was nice to catch up with two longtime friends over the past week, Perry Bradley and Sandra Perkins – face to face. Electronic connections with friends is OK but not the same as talking eye to eye. Both were short visits but meaningful to say the least.

Until next time!
