The first-ever Community Cleanup Day crew hauled in 510 pounds of trash from roadways around Adams Pond and Boothbay Center on Saturday, April 28. About 20 people turned out for the event at the Boothbay Craft Brewery on Adams Pond Road, including a multi-generational contingent from the Anchor Church. From the brewery, pickers fanned out and collected trash from the roadside for three hours.

After the cleanup, the work crew enjoyed burgers, hot dogs, soft drinks and cold locally-brewed 633 Pale Ale before heading home.

Lori Mitchell said the Brewery plans to make this an annual event.

The Boothbay Region Water District crew will complete the cleanup along the Route 27 stretch of the Adams Pond watershed this week.
