The Coastal Humane Society in Brunswick will host a Puppy Palooza event on Saturday, July 11 and Sunday, July 12 at the shelter’s 30 Range Road location, from noon to 6 p.m. each day.

The event will feature several rescued dogs and puppies from a sanctuary in Mississippi. The Wolf Pond Dog Sanctuary, of Magee, Mississippi, takes in dogs from the area that are at risk for euthanasia, and coordinates rescues with shelters across the U.S. that can take them in. The organization is a new transport partner for the Coastal Humane Society, who regularly makes trips to shelters in the south to rescue animals in need, in their Sprinter Rescue Van, which was awarded to the shelter through a grant from the ASPCA last spring.

Among this group of animals is a litter of five puppies who were abandoned in the middle of a dirt road in Mississippi at 5 weeks old, very malnourished, and taken to Wolf Pond Sanctuary by the person that found them. They are eight of the thirty-eight animals rescued by Coastal that will be up for adoption at the Puppy Palooza. The Coastal Humane Society in Brunswick serves townships along Maine’s Midcoast and assists nearly 2,500 animals annually.
