Clamshell Quilters February meetings

Fri, 02/05/2016 - 7:45am

Our next meeting is Monday, Feb. 8 at the Faith Baptist Church, 144 Mills Road, Newcastle. At 5:30 p.m., Rebecca Townsend will show 'n tell her scrap quilts, plus tell us a little bit about how she got into scrap quilting and where the quilts end up. Dianne Zyskowski will show 'n tell samples of how to slice simple blocks (like a 4-patch or pinwheel) to create new, more complicated looking blocks. If you participating in the Mystery Quilt, Cindy DeLong will have our second block's directions ready to distribute. Jan Wooler will begin collecting craft related donations for our June auction.

The meeting will be preceded by a sew 'n chat session beginning at 2 p.m. Bring a project of your own or a charity project to work on, and enjoy each others' company for the afternoon. Don't forget to bring your own food and beverage if you're staying through the afternoon and evening.

Join us on Saturday, Feb. 13 (snow date is Feb. 20) from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. for our annual community service workshop, whether you stay all day, or simply drop by to help out for a couple of hours. We will be making walker bags, pillowslips, etc., to be distributed to those in need in our communities. Please bring your sewing machine and sewing supplies. Irons and ironing boards will be provided. Fabric and batting donations are appreciated. A pot of soup will be provided. You are welcome to bring accompaniments or your own bag lunch. Please bring your own beverage.
