Carolyn T. Lemont

Carolyn Thompson Lemont, 85, of West Bath died April 5, 2016 in Bath after three years of health challenges, which she faced courageously with strength, a sense of humor and a determination to overcome.

She was born August 14, 1930 in Montpelier, Vermont to Richard I. and Mabel Wilson Thompson, and grew up in Springfield, Massachusetts, South Portland, Cape Elizabeth and Bath.

She was a graduate of Cape Elizabeth High School and attended Westbrook Junior College in Portland prior to her marriage to Paul Lemont. They settled in West Bath where they raised their four children.

She was employed for several years as a Service representative for New England telephone Company in Bath, formerly served as town clerk for the town of West Bath, and was an elegant presence on the executive floor of Bath Iron Works where she was receptionist for many years prior to her retirement in 1996.

She was predeceased by her parents; her husband, Paul Lemont Sr. (1982); and her son, Richard Lemont (2006).

She is survived by son Paul Jr. (Suzanne); daughter, Rebecca (William Leeman Sr.); son, Jeffrey; daughter-in-law, Mary Jane (Richard); brother, Richard Thompson (Alice); sister-in-law, Elaine (J. Bazin); seven grandchildren, Julie Bemis, William Leeman Jr., Michelle Do, Eric Lemont, Brian Lemont, Michael Lemont and Stephen Lemont; and seven great-grandchildren, Alexis, Olivia and Jack Bemis, Christopher, Alexander and Sophia Carolyn Do, and Bennett Lemont; as well as a niece, several nephews and cousins.

The family wishes to thank all the healthcare professionals and friends who became part of our family’s support system over the past three years.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, May 20, 2016 at Oak Grove Cemetery in Bath (the entrance by the ponds) at 11 a.m. A reception will follow at the Kennebec Tavern Restaurant on Commercial Street in Bath.

Those wishing to make a charitable donation in Carolyn’s name may do so to the charity of their choice. The family requests no flowers.
