Bruce A. Delano

Bruce A. Delano, 61, of Bath died July 1, 2014 at his residence.

He was born in Bath on October 6, 1952, a son of Merwin A. and Jean L. (Miller) Delano. He graduated from Vallejo High School in California and later moved to Bath. He was self employed in the construction field for most of his life. He was employed at Rogers Hardware in Bath for many years.

He was a member of the Bath Lodge of Elks, the Sons of the American Legion in Topsham, and he served as State Commander of the Sons of the American Legion. Bruce also volunteered at Togus Hospital for many years.

Bruce enjoyed woodworking, fishing, playing pool and gardening.

He is survived by his longtime companion, Dawn S. Dreyer of Bath; his son, Merwin A. Delano and his wife Jennifer of Rochester, N.H.; four sisters, Judith A. Frees of California, Jane M. Burdick and her husband James of California, Joanne Turner and her husband James of California, and Mary-Lou Thomas and her husband Robert of North Carolina; one brother, Joseph “Tom” Mitchell and his longtime companion Carolyn of California; two grandchildren, Addison B. Delano and Jack R. Delano; and many nieces and nephews.

A celebration of his life will be at 11 a.m. on Thursday, July 17 at Daigle Funeral Home, 819 High Street, Bath. Burial will follow in Oak Cemetery in Georgetown.
