BRHS cross-country wins at Hall-Dale

Mon, 09/11/2017 - 7:30pm

Hall-Dale High School hosted cross country teams and athletes from nine schools, including Boothbay Region High School, on Wednesday, Sept. 6.

BRHS Coach Nick Scott said the meet was the most difficult race yet for both the boys and the girls.

“It was a rugged, hilly course where time really did not matter because the difficulty of the course was so high,” said Scott. “That being said, I thought our team performed quite well. The boys easily won the meet outpacing runner-up Monmouth Academy by 15 points.”

Senior Kyle Ames won the race in 21:25 while freshman Mason Erhard took fifth place in 23:29. Junior Will LaBrecque and sophomore Patrick Conlin took ninth and 10th place, respectively, with times of 24:23 and 25:04. Junior Bayly Gaughan-Carrasco took 14th in 25:22; freshman Ryan Russell took 17th in 25:21; freshman Kaleb Ames took 22nd in 26:00; freshmen Fox Elder and Graham Harris took 24th and 25th places, respectively, in 26:20 and 26:28; senior Sam Burnham took 36th in 28:06; and sophomore Quinn Ranta took 39th in 28:59.

Only two girls raced: Glory Blethen won in 26:22 and Delly Clarkson placed 28th in 38:35.

“A special congratulations to Glory Blethen and Kyle Ames…,” Scott said. “Last week we had a little rain, but overall it was a great week for cross-country and it looks like this week could be even better.”

This Wednesday, Sept. 13 will be the one and only home meet for the boys and girls 2017 cross country teams. Scott is asking for 10 volunteers from the families of the athletes and from the community to lay out a successful meet.
