BRES boys win title, girls third

The Boothbay Region Elementary School boys and girls cross-country teams are to be congratulated for their performances in Camden running in the Busline League Championships on Oct. 12.

The girls ran first and placed third overall out of eight teams with a total of 106 runners.

Haley Abbott placed first overall (14:08), Jazmine Balducci third (14:27), Glory Blethen fourth (14:29), seventh grader Grace Campbell 49th (18:29), Marissa Peters 61st (19:13), Kathryn Hubbard 70th (20:52), and sixth grader Grace Campbell 87th (22:15).

The boys ran second and also had a fantastic finish placing first overall out of seven teams with a total of 101 runners.

Chris Hamblett placed second overall(13:16), Ryan Russell placed 6th (13:56), Gryffin Kristan 10th (14:09), Mason Erhard 13th (14:26), Kaleb Ames 15th (14:28), Jonathan Genrich 17th (14:34), Chase Carty 20th (14:56), Graham Harris 25th (15:25), Jamie Labrecque 31st (15:47), Fox Elder 49th

(16:31), Lucas Hardwick 50th (16:33), Ryan Amaral 57th (16:52), Matthew Sullivan 64th (17:13), Sam Page 73rd (17:44), Kayden Ames 80th (18:35), Gavin Carlson 94th (21:52). The boys defeated Camden/Rockport by only three points.

“Both teams need to be extremely proud of what they accomplished this year," said coach Hildy Johnson. "They all worked hard all season long, showing dedication by practicing hard, playing hard too and running their meets tough! Bravo! Mr. Scott will be happy next year with a large group of 8th graders heading his way…fast ones too! Well done runners!”
