Boothbay shines

    Dear Editor:

As residents of the town of Boothbay, we are most appreciative of all those whose efforts made the Festival of Lights a success. The Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens being the centerpiece of lighting displays and seasonal celebration gave us another year of entertainment and joy.

The Boothbay Harbor Region Chamber of Commerce, business owners, municipal buildings, residents, churches and schools helped to illuminate the night sky and bring thousands of visitors to our peninsula. Reports are the shops, restaurants, hotels and inns were bustling with patrons.

A special thanks should go to the public workers who helped to make this happen. Boothbay Public Works headed by Mike Alley, roreman, and his crew of Sam Barter, David Brewer, Chris Dighton and Tony Goode strung lights at the Common and kept all roads and lanes clear and safe for all. Lynn Maloney, town clerk, and the business office staff kindly distributed the Gardens Aglow guest passes to town residents for the night of Dec. 7. Thank you.

    Tim and Pam Utley
