Boothbay’s Ames, Brown named McDonald’s senior all stars

Seahawk senior basketball players Kyle Ames and Page Brown were named Wednesday, Feb. 21 to participate in the 38th annual Maine McDonald’s High School Senior All Star Basketball Games. Brown, who was also named one of 10 semifinalists for the Miss Maine Basketball Award, will be a member of the Class C/D South girls team and Ames will be a member of the Class C/D South boys team. A total of 80 High School Senior All-Star Players are selected from top senior basketball players from across the state, ten in each of eight categories.

The event will once again be held at Newman Gymnasium on the campus of Husson University in Bangor. The All-Star Banquet takes place Friday evening, March 9 at the Anah Shrine Hall in Bangor, and the games take place throughout the day on Saturday, March 10 at Husson University. The boys C/D game will start at 1 p.m. and the girls C/D game will start at 2:30. Game day tickets are $8 for adults and $5 for children ages 12 and under.

In addition to Brown, others named 2018 Miss Maine Basketball semifinalist are Abby Cavallaro of Cheverus, Kolleen Bouchard of Houlton, Gabby DePatsy of Medomak, Allyssa Turner of Messalonskee, Tia Day of Monmouth, Emily Wheaton of Presque Isle, Sophie Glidden of Scarborough, Meghan Graff of South Portland and Eva Mazur of South Portland.

The Maine McDonald’s High School Senior All Star Basketball Games is a charitable fundraising event, with net proceeds from the Games directly benefiting Ronald McDonald House Charities® of Maine (RMHC). RMHC of Maine was founded in 1989 by the owner-operators of McDonald’s restaurants in Maine and Eastern New Hampshire who had a vision of giving back to the community by supporting the children of Maine.
