Boothbay Republican caucus Jan. 29

Tue, 01/16/2018 - 11:00am

The Boothbay Town Republican Committee will be holding its biennial municipal caucus at the Boothbay Town Office Monday, Jan. 29 at 6:30 p.m.

The caucus is being called by chairwoman Dawn Gilbert. This is an important part of the political process and is required by state law.

At the caucus, the town committee is elected. There will also five members elected to the Lincoln County Republican Committee. Fifteen Republican delegates and 15 alternates are also elected to be delegates to the Maine State Republican Convention at the Augusta Civic Center on May 4 and 5.

This is a very important time in our state’s and nation’s history. We need to elect a Republican senator, a new governor, First District congressman, re-elect Sen. Dana Dow, reelect Rep. Stephanie Hawke, and other Lincoln County offices.

The Lincoln County Republican Committee will be holding a caucus for the other towns except Boothbay and Bristol (who are holding their own). There will be candidates speaking and a straw poll for governor on Feb. 17. The Boothbay caucus will also be holding a straw poll for governor.

New voters and Independents who wish to be Republicans may register to attend. Our registrar of voters will be there. Refreshments and coffee will be served.
