Boothbay Region Lions Club

Fri, 05/25/2018 - 2:45pm

Members were treated to a great meal (many thanks to Lion Glenn’s daughter Jamie for helping out) this past week and the usual camaraderie that goes on when we all get together. King Lion Ken F-Fitch read “In Flanders Fields” as our Memorial Day remembrance while the ivory keys hailed out an appropriate song thanks to Lion Terry.

Plans are still in the works for BINGO starting in September. We’ve heard many around town say they can’t wait. As many of our self sufficient small town nonprofits are finding out, it’s not easy keeping funds coming in to sustain keeping clubs open. We’re really hoping BINGO will be our opportunity to raise funds and enable us to give even more to those asking for help. If all goes well, BINGO will be on Tuesday nights so mark your calendars now!

Remember, our club house is also available to rent. Find us on FB if you have a query about availability or call a member.

Cabbage Island will be our last “meeting” of this year.  If you’re interested in tickets please call Lion Mary Tilton and let her know.  June 13 is our last formal meeting set aside for awards and fun. All members are asked to bring an appetizer for this meeting (those will be our dinner). Lion Dwight Lewis was initiated with his brother with twin Lion Duane standing by. Welcome to Lion Dwight officially!

We’re cleaning up the clubhouse inside and out on June 2 at 9 a.m. Bring your rakes or cleaning rags and let’s make our place sparkle for the last meeting. And, speaking of the last meeting, invite your spouse or significant other and wear your best Hawaiian clothes. Our club turns 65 this year so let’s have a great time! If you’re thinking of joining this meeting would be an opportune time – meeting starts at 6:15!

Tail Twister Tom N. didn’t let us down and fined Lions Dwight and Duane, Lion Paul,  Lion Karen and even raised some funds for Project Graduation!
