Boothbay Region Home and Garden Tour home highlighted

The Boothbay Region Garden Club proudly presents its first home for the “Sea Around Us” Home and Garden Tour. The tour is held on Friday, July 21 from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

When you first come to this property, Mr. Gnome welcomes you with his own little corner garden. Spectacular views of Fisherman’s Passage and many islands are outstanding features of this property. This home, built in 1924 by George and Nellie Yerrall, was purchased by the present owners in 1997. The original blueprints by architect Clifton C. West were found and are now framed and displayed in the house. Over several years, changes were made to the building and surroundings. A large renovation project evolved into a spacious, open concept design retaining many old cottage features. Lots of windows offer natural light and protected views even on cold and windy winter days.

The gardens, which are intended to be informal and colorful, are planted and maintained by the owners. When you step into the back yard you feel like you are in your own private space. Some of the old memories of the original cottage are nicely incorporated in this lovely, private feeling backyard.
