The Boothbay selectmen will interview six prospective town manager candidates on March 30 and 31. The selectmen narrowed the field after receiving 37 applications.

The town manager search is being facilitated by David Barnett of the Maine Municipal Association. Barnett is the MMA’s director of personnel services and labor relations.

The town is paying the MMA a $4,900 consulting fee.

In January, the selectmen believed it would take 3-4 months before a new town manager was named. Selectmen’s Chairman Steven Lewis expects the interviews will narrow the field to 2-3 candidates. This will lead to another round of interviews, according to Lewis.

“I’m not sure if we will have a meet-n-greet with the finalists or what we’ll do, ” Lewis said. “Once the interviews are completed the selectmen will discuss it and decide how to proceed.”

Lewis said the six finalists include male and female candidates.
