Saturday afternoon, Jan. 14 in Bethel, the Seahawks boys varsity basketball team lost to the Telstar Rebels 70-53. The Seahawks now stand at 6-5 and Telstar is 3-7.

Telstar jumped out to a first quarter lead of 18-12 and never trailed in the game after that. The Seahawks trailed by as many as 17 points in the second half, they cut the lead to six at one point, but Telstar pulled away in the final minutes.

The Seahawks had four players in double figures -- Jacob Leonard (14), Carter Babcock (11), Eli Gudroe (10) and Kyle Ames (10). Telstar also had four players in double figures -- Tanner Wheeler (19), Avry Griffin (16), Jarrett Bean (15) and Blake Rothwell (13).

"As one of our players said after the game, 'we never got off the bus'," said BRHS Coach I.J. Pinkham via email. "We missed multiple easy baskets, but we scored enough points to win a game. The problem was our effort and intensity defensively to stop them from scoring.”
