Senior tri-captain Sydney Meader scored all four of Boothbay’s goals and the Seahawks went on to defeat the visiting Oak Hill Raiders, 4-1, in Class C field hockey action at Perkins Field Friday afternoon, Sept. 15. The win improved Boothbay’s record to 5-1 while Oak Hill dropped to 4-3.

After Meader put Boothbay ahead, 1-0, at the 26:52 mark of the first half, her second unassisted goal was a thing of beauty. Running out of the cage on an Oak Hill penalty corner, Meader took possession of the ball and went the length of the field through the Raider team and scored from about 10 feet away from the net at 10:52.

With Boothbay leading 2-0 at the half, senior tri-captain Page Brown found Meader open in front of the goal and passed it to her for Meader’s third goal at the 27:57 mark of the second half.

Oak Hill scored its lone goal shortly after when Meagan Sheehy, off an assist by Zoe Buteau, put the ball in the net. Meader’s last goal, unassisted, came at the 17:26 mark.

The Seahawk defense limited the Raiders to only 11 shots on goal, while Boothbay had 20.

Raider goalie Mackenzie Thibout had 16 saves and Seahawk goalie Emily Amaral had 11.
