Snow covers the construction site but the folks at Maine Modular assure us that they are used to little things like a few flakes and some cold and all is on schedule. In preparation for the weather, hay was spread on the first level floor so that plumbing could be installed and then concrete poured for the final finish. Roof timbers have been delivered for the function room end and  when the holidays are over,  the completed walls will support their installation.

The work of keeping BHYC viable and visible  goes on holidays or no and the office will be open Christmas week through Friday from  9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and will reopen after the New Year’s weekend on Jan 2. The Commodores have been meeting in person and electronically. One of the fortunate and wise situations now is that all three of our top flags live in Maine and can handle the work of their offices in concert and comfort. Good job salute to the nominating committee for their foresight.

Vice Commodore Gardiner will be hosting the January social event on the 5th and we look forward to seeing a large crowd for that event. There is some parking in the vice commodore’s driveway, space is available along the cemetery across the street and you are welcome to park in the Holmes driveway just down the street if weather conditions permit a short walk.

Remember, February is at the Lancaster’s on Atlantic Avenue and March is in Miami.

Best wishes for a wonderful 2018 have been decreed by Commodore Wheeler and Sandy, and your scribe issues them from our house as well. Speaking of scribes, I recently had a message from Scotty who is happily ensconced in Pittsburgh for a beautiful warm winter. Sorry Scotty that the Patriots spoiled the day  a couple of weeks ago.

Stay warm.
